About Tyler DeVries
Hey there, I’m Tyler DeVries. Thanks for checking out my site.
Why I Started This Website
In the spring of 2016, I graduated from the University of Michigan and immediately took a job working as a process engineer for the largest manufacturer of home appliances in the United States.
Those first two years out of college were eye-opening. Like many college students entering the workforce, I quickly realized that I was unprepared to be effective at work. School hadn’t taught me the practical skills that I needed to get results in the real world.
So like many ambitious young professional do in their early twenties, I went into self-improvement mode. I started reading more books, sought out mentors, and began to imitate the habits of successful people around me.
It was during this time that I started writing on this website to share what I was learning.
I’ve since left corporate America and joined a small accounting firm. The game is different, but I’ve found that the fundamentals of effective work remain the same.
Now I invite you to join me on this journey of learning how to be our best at what we do. I don’t promise to have all the answers, but I do have a place to start.
How My Work Will Benefit You
I’m on a mission to teach young professionals like me how to be more effective at work. In order to do that, I write career handbooks. They’re practical guides on how to manage yourself and lead others.
In addition, I publish detailed notes on over 75 of my favorite books.
Finally, I occasionally send out a free newsletter with all of the best career advice that I find across the web.
What To Do Next
You know the drill.
The best way to stay in touch with my new content is to sign up for the newsletter.
I try to send one every other week or so. But I don’t keep a strict schedule. My only promise is I’ll never spam you with something that’s not worth the space in your inbox.
